Active Planning

The Mombasa Road facility was the first such indigenous pharmaceutical manufacturing plant to be GMP certified. The facility is subject to regular inspection validation for GMP compliance, by the Ministry of Health (MoH) as well as external agencies who either procure our products directly or through procurement agencies, "to audit the quality of our products against international standards. " confirms Manesh Patel.

"We believe that investment in technology and facilities allows us to deliver superior products to our customers and is the key to our trustworthiness."

The Mombasa Road plant is fully equipped with facilities and trained/skilled personnel required for raw material and ingredient testing, production validation, packaging and efficient product delivery.

L&A is committed to offering international quality pharmaceutical products to the regional markets and beyond. To achieve this lofty aim, our focus remains the exhibition of manufacturing excellence as a model to the pharmaceutical industry and business in this region.

We intend to increase our presence and equity holding in the regional pharmaceutical market through:

1)
Increased marketing and distribution of our products through agency and collaborative partnerships.
2)
Contract manufacturing for international companies.
3)
"Licensing-in" products of transnational corporations.

We have achieved to a greater or lesser extent some of the strategic growth plans above. However with the on-going global trends towards generic prescribing, cost-containment and rational drug-usage, we predict an accelerated pace towards the realization of our growth plans. To which end L&A has invested in cost-saving measures e.g.

1.
The installation of dedicated power-generation plant to facilitate continuous production and limit costly down-times due to frequent power outages.
2.
Commissioning and operation of own bore-hole, independent of the often vagrant local authority water supply, and the unique reverse osmotic-exchange system for the provision of ultra-clean water for pharmaceutical manufacture. This is the only such facility installed anywhere within the East African region for pharmaceuticals manufacture. Thus L&A has provided for its water requirements well into the 21-century.
4.
Availability of adequate space for any envisaged future expansion.
